What’s this blog for? Well, this is a place to jot down my jarbled, jankey thoughts. Or talk about mom stuff, design and cooking. My first go around on this blog was just becoming too personal. And being such an introvert, I decided to chill out and just write about stuff I like, not just the random bitch fest. No one likes a debbie downer!
Maybe you feel like you can relate to me, or maybe you’ll think I’m an idiot. I’m not a writer or expert on anything, but I am opinionated and feel like I have something important to say. I just had to get some of this stuff in the brain down on paper, sos to speak. Here’s some back story on me in case you are interested…
I had a strange upbringing. It’s really the coolest conversation starter. My parents were Scientologists. So if you read that right, it means I was raised as one. Do you feel sorry for me? Well, you should. Although my parents weren’t too hardcore about it, yeah, we were raised with it. My parents were also hippies of sorts. My dad a jazz musician, my mom, an artist turned stay-at-home-mom. And just when you thought that was weird, it gets more weird.
My brother is in a death metal band. My sister is a hairstylist. The other one? An EDI coordinator. Whatever the fuck that is… (yes, I curse a LOT here)… My husband, well the man is literally able fix ANYTHING electronic. He’s the smartest guy you’d ever meet. Too smart sometimes. Oh and he also babywears. It’s quite sexy.
So, here’s where things got sad for me in my life. When I was barely 20 years old, both of my parents passed a year apart from each other. It’s a story I don’t feel like I need to go into, but I will post about it often as it’s something you never get over and likely never will. And I like to think and talk about them. I miss them dearly.
Mothering is something I was meant to do. Design is something I was meant to do, the computer graphical kind. Maybe mothering is in the blood. My husband always “knew it”, I’ve been told. He always said I was “the mom” of every situation and it was only a matter of time. I scoffed at it, and still don’t know what the fuck I’m doing— but all I can say is that it feels right.
I have a deep love for design. I got to work for Apple. YES APPLE. Talk about a designers’ dream. I was actually more of a coder while working with them but I learned so much from the group of talented designers. Typography is also a passion of mine. I just love fonts and font faces. Maybe even one day, I’ll design a font. I am also a huge wannabe connoisseur of wine and love to cook as well. You’ll see posts about it here.
I want to connect here with others like me who love HTML and Adobe Illustrator, who breastfeed or support it, babywear, cloth diaper and love the crap out of their babies. Or people who watch Dr. Who and So You Think You Can Dance or the random documentary on volcanos. Who like to laugh and act silly when their toddlers whine, who love to make a Rachel Ray burger, a Barefoot Contessa cookie or a Giada pasta with mascarpone cheese, and finally, who are doing their best to be happy and make happy babies.
I hope you enjoy my thoughts here, thanks for reading.
